Stratford, ON (November 22, 2012) – The City of Stratford will hold an information session about
Stratford’s Intelligent Community Awards campaign on Thursday, November 29th at 7:00PM, hosted by
the University of Waterloo Stratford Campus. The purpose of the evening session will be to outline the ICF
Awards process and its relevance to Stratford’s emergence as a technology centre specializing in digital
media. The public is invited. Doors open at 6:30PM and the meeting should finish by 8:30PM.

The format will be a series of informal 5-minute presentations by a cross section of Stratford’s digital

Last month, Stratford was once again named one of the world’s “Smart21” Intelligent Communities from
among 300 cities by the Intelligent Community Forum – a New York think tank promoting the use of
broadband Internet access for community and economic development. Two years in a row, Stratford made
the second round to be designated a “Top7” Intelligent Community for 2011 and 2012. Now the City is

“This evening will be enlightening for anyone who lives, works or studies in Stratford,” says Stratford
Mayor Dan Mathieson. “One of the great things about Stratford’s designation as one of the world’s Top7
Intelligent Communities is that our achievements are so broadly based. Other Smart21 and Top7 cities are
many times our size, or capitals, or multinational headquarters – I believe we are in the company of giants
because we pull together as a community.”

The event will be an excellent opportunity for citizens to learn more about the ICF and the relevance of the
awards to Stratford’s future, and an opportunity for firsthand participation in the process.

The event is open to all members of the public, and all are encouraged to attend. For any more information
