Avonova Gets Taken To School
University of Waterloo Stratford Campus at 7:00 PM on November 6th, 2012

Stratford, ON – Avonova, Stratford’s technology association, is going back to school with Central Secondary’s ICT program maven Al Booker, and some show & tell from some very talented digital media students. NOTE: The meeting is Tuesday, November 6th, 7-9PM, BUT THE VENUE HAS CHANGED for this meeting to the shiny new University of Waterloo | Stratford Campus building. The public is invited and admission is free.
With the introduction of Central’s brand new, nowhere else in Ontario, Computer Engineering program, Mr. Booker oversees four (count ‘em!) groundbreaking ICT and digital media related programs here in Stratford. So we’re asking him to share how the four tracks have evolved, how Stratford and Central have been called up repeatedly as natural leaders for innovative programming in the eyes of the Province of Ontario, and the kinds of work that the upcoming generation is already creating. We’ve also asked him to bring some of his students to talk about the work that they are creating that is garnering local, regional, national and international attention.
If you care about local high school education, the next generation of digital talent, and the role of education in Stratford’s ascendancy in the digital world (or just want to check out the new University building from the inside) come out for some inspiration and chat at this month’s Avonova meeting.
Next month’s meeting on Dec. 4th will be our We-Still-Call-It-Christmas Social, with special guests to give context to Avonova’s role in the amazing technology developments happening here in Stratford.
